Full Site Editing (FSE )
The blocks for Full Site Editing ( available from version 9.2 onwards ) are only available when using an FSE theme. Most of these blocks are intended to be used in the Site Editor (beta) admin page and in the custom post types Templates ( wp_template
) and Template Parts ( wp_template_part
). Some of the blocks can also be used in standard post content.

- WordPress version 5.5.1 is not compatible with Gutenberg v8.1.0 or earlier.
- Gutenberg 7.2.0 adds the Buttons block. It’s not possible to transform a Button block to a Buttons block, or vice-versa.
- In Gutenberg 7.1.0 the Legacy Widget (Experimental) – core/legacy-widget is still experimental.
- Gutenberg 7.0.0 adds 2 core blocks: Navigation – core/navigation, Navigation Link – core/navigation-link
- These replace the experimental blocks Menu Item – core/navigation-menu-item, Navigation – core/navigation-menu, which have been deleted rather than deprecated.
- Gutenberg 6.5.0 through 6.9.0 added 39 social link blocks.
- Gutenberg 5.9.0 provided 42 blocks with a prefix of

For some reason, Gutenberg still registers a number of Deprecated blocks.
